Biography
Dagmar Abfalter studied International Economics at the University of Innsbruck and received her PhD in 2008 with a thesis on the construction of success in music theater. In parallel, she completed an MBA in International Arts Management (ICCM/Salzburg). 2002-2013 she was a university assistant at the Department of Strategic Management, Marketing and Tourism at the University of Innsbruck. 2013-2018 she was Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) at the Department of Cultural Management and Gender Studies and habilitated in Cultural Institutions Studies in 2018, subsequently she was Associate Professor at mdw 2018-2023. She is the head of the structured doctoral program (sdp) at mdw and Associate Dean of Research Studies. For the International Journal of Arts Management, she serves as Associate Editor in the Management section. Since June 2023, Dagmar Abfalter is Professor of Cultural Management at the Department of Cultural Management and Gender Studies at mdw - University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and Head of the Department since February 2024.
