Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, zum zweiten Mal schreiben wir den Herta und Kurt Blaukopf-Award für herausragende Dissertationen an der mdw aus (Deadline 7.1.2022). Die Auszeichnung dient der Sichtbarmachung besonderer Leistungen im Rahmen des wissenschaftlichen Doktoratsstudiums an der mdw und der Förderung von Early-Stage Researcher für ihre weitere akademische Laufbahn. Die Vergabe erfolgt durch eine transdisziplinäre interne Jury auf Basis externer Gutachten. Wir freuen uns auf viele Bewerbungen! Dass Early-Stage Reseacher der mdw sehr erfolgreich sind, beweist unter anderem auch die Verleihung des Post-DocTrack-Stipendiums 2021 der Österreichischen Akademie der Wissenschaften an Lena Dražić (Institut für Musikwissenschaft und Interpretationsforschung) und Elias Berner (Telling Sounds) und des Gender & Agency Forschungspreises der Universität Wien an Jasemin Khaleli (Music and Minorities Research Center der mdw). Ganz besonders gratulieren wir auch Barbara Wolfram (Filmakademie Wien) für die Zuerkennung der Förderung aus der Projektausschreibung Künstlerische Forschung der Stadt Wien für das Projekt: Building Bridges in Polarized Societies by means of Art and Research. Ein herzliches Willkommen an Catherine Herbin, Doktorandin und Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Institut für Philosophie der Universität Bremen, die gefördert durch das Ernst-Mach Stipendium des OeAD am Institut für Musikwissenschaft und Interpretationsforschung zu Gast ist. Das Doktoratsstudium an der mdw hat sich in den letzten Jahren dynamisch weiterentwickelt und ist international nachgefragt, nicht zuletzt auch durch die Einrichtung des ersten strukturierten Doktoratsprogramms der mdw und viele Dissertationen im Rahmen von Drittmittelprojekten. Auf Initiative von PhD-Betreuer_innen der mdw wurde von der Forschungsförderung, dem Studiendekanat für wissenschaftliche Studien und der Personalentwicklung - Zentrum für Weiterbildung ein mehrteiliges Weiterbildungsformat konzipiert, in dem es insbesondere um die Gestaltung von Betreuungsprozessen geht: How to Supervise Doctoral Students? An Introductory Online Lecture am 6. Dezember 2021 und PhD Supervision Tools & Strategies Workshop im Februar und März 2022. Wir dürfen Sie bereits jetzt auf die Buchpräsentation von „Music and Democracy. Participatory Approaches“ am 20. Jänner 2022, 17:30 – 19:00 Uhr hinweisen. Die aus der isaScience 2018 hervorgegangene Publikation ist auch die erste Veröffentlichung in mdwPress. Last, but not least laden wir sie herzlich zur Podiumsdiskussion „Populismus kritisieren: Kulturpolitik. Demokratie. Populismus am 24.11.2021, 18 Uhr ein! Dear colleagues, For the second time, we are announcing the Herta and Kurt Blaukopf-Award for outstanding dissertations at mdw (deadline 7.1.2022). The award serves to make visible special achievements in the context of doctoral studies at the mdw and to promote early-stage researchers for their further academic careers. The award is granted by a transdisciplinary internal jury on the basis of external reviews. We look forward to receiving many applications! The fact that early-stage researchers at the mdw are very successful can also be seen by the award of the Post-DocTrack Fellowship 2021 of the Austrian Academy of Sciences to Lena Dražić (Department for Musicology and Performance Studies) and Elias Berner (Project Telling Sounds) and the Gender & Agency Research Prize of the University of Vienna to Jasemin Khaleli (Music and Minorities Research Center of the mdw). Congratulations! Our special congratulations go to Barbara Wolfram (Film Academy Vienna) for receiving funding from the City of Vienna's call for projects for artistic research for the project: Building Bridges in Polarized Societies by means of Art and Research. A warm welcome to Catherine Herbin, PhD student and research assistant at the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Bremen, who is a guest at the Department for Musicology and Performance Studies, funded by the Ernst-Mach Scholarship of the OeAD. Doctoral studies at the mdw have developed dynamically in recent years and are in demand internationally, not least due to the establishment of the first structured doctoral programme at the mdw and the many dissertations that have been written within the framework of third-party funded projects. On the initiative of PhD supervisors at the mdw, the Research Support unit, the Office of the Dean of Research Programmes and the Human Resources Development – Center for Further Education have designed a multi-part training programme that focuses in particular on the design of supervision processes: How to Supervise Doctoral Students? An Introductory Online Lecture on 6 December 2021 and PhD Supervision Tools & Strategies Workshop in February and March 2022. We can already look forward to the book launch of Music and Democracy. Participatory Approaches on 20 January 2022, 17:30-19:00. The publication resulting from isaScience 2018 is also the first publication in mdwPress. Last but not least, we would like to invite you to the panel discussion Populismus kritisieren: Cultural Politics. Democracy. Populism on 24.11.2021, 18:00!
