Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
liebe Kolleginnen und Kollegen,

dies ist der letzte Newsletter des Jahres, in dem wir vor allem einen Ausblick auf Förderungen und Veranstaltungen 2022 geben.

Wir möchten Sie an die noch laufende Ausschreibung zum Herta und Kurt Blaukopf-Award für herausragende Dissertationen an der mdw erinnern (Deadline: 7. Jänner 2022). Wir bitten Sie, den Call weiterzuleiten und freuen uns auf weitere Einreichungen von Dissertationen an der mdw ab dem Jahr 2019. Die feierliche Verleihung findet im Juni 2022 statt.

Zwei Calls gibt es im Bereich der künstlerischen Forschung: Zum dritten Mal schreibt die Forschungsförderung eine Förderung für Artistic Research Pilotprojekte an der mdw aus (Deadline 28.3.2022). Außerdem gibt es die Möglichkeit, sich für das Research-Retreat der mdw zu Arts-based-Philosophy // Artistic Research „Crossing Arts & Philosophy: COME ON!” zu bewerben (Deadline 10.1.2022).

Mit besonderer Freude dürfen wir von den ersten Neuerscheinungen bei mdwPress, dem Gemeinschaftsprojekt von Forschungsförderung und Bibliothek berichten: Am 6. Dezember wurde die „inaugural collection“ des Journals Music & Minorities (M&M) präsentiert. Die erste Buchpublikation, der von Marko Kölbl und Fritz Trümpi herausgegebene Band „Music und Democracy“, wird am 20. Jänner 2022 vorgestellt.

„Alles neu“ gilt auch für die isaScience: Ab 2022 werden Andrea Glauser (IKM), Marko Kölbl (IVE) und Stephanie Probst (IMI) als wissenschaftliches Leitungsteam gemeinsam mit Therese Kaufmann die isaScience gestalten. Wir freuen uns auf die Zusammenarbeit und bedanken uns sehr herzlich für die engagierte und inhaltlich prägende Leitung der letzten Jahre bei Dagmar Abfalter (IKM), Rosa Reitsamer (IMS) und Fritz Trümpi (IMI). Zur Klausur der Wissenschaften: Angesichts der instabilen Situation scheint es unwahrscheinlich, im Februar 2022 eine große Veranstaltung in Präsenz abhalten zu können. So gelungen die digitalen Veranstaltungen 2021 zu aktuellen Forschungsprojekten an der mdw und zum Thema Internationalisierung waren, macht sich doch eine gewisse Online-Fatigue bemerkbar und wir verschieben die KdW 2022 auf den 24. Mai 2022. Bitte merken Sie sich den Termin vor!

Dear colleagues,

In this final newsletter of the year, we offer you an outlook on forthcoming funding and events in 2022.

First and foremost, we would like to remind you of the ongoing call for the Herta and Kurt Blaukopf Award for outstanding dissertations at mdw (Deadline: January 7, 2022)  and kindly ask you to pass on information about the call to anyone who may be interested. We look forward to receiving further submissions of recent mdw dissertations. The award ceremony will take place in June 2022.

There are also currently two calls in the area of Artistic Research. Research Support is, now for the third time, announcing a grant for Artistic Research Pilot Projects at mdw (deadline 28.3.2022), and there is also the possibility to apply to participate in the research retreat of the mdw on Arts-based-Philosophy // Artistic Research "Crossing Arts & Philosophy: COME ON!" (Deadline 10.1.2022).

It is with great pleasure that we can report on the first new publications of mdwPress, the joint project of Research Support and the library: December 6 marked the presentation of the "inaugural collection" of the journal Music & Minorities (M&M). The first book publication, the volume "Music and Democracy", edited by Marko Kölbl and Fritz Trümpi, will be presented on January 20, 2022.

Our much-loved isaScience will also enjoy a makeover in 2022, with scientific team Andrea Glauser (IKM), Marko Kölbl (IVE) and Stephanie Probst (IMI) shaping the conference together with Therese Kaufmann. We look forward to the cooperation and would like to thank Dagmar Abfalter (IKM), Rosa Reitsamer (IMS) and Fritz Trümpi (IMI) for their dedicated and decisive leadership over the past years. A review of isaScience 2021 can be found in the mdw magazine!

Concerning the Klausur der Wissenschaften: Given the unstable situation, it seems unlikely to be able to hold a major face-to-face event in February 2022. While the 2021 digital events on current research projects at mdw and on the topic of internationalisation were highly successful, a certain online fatigue is making itself felt, and we are thus postponing the KdW 2022 to May 24, 2022. Please save the date!
