Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, der Krieg der Russischen Föderation gegen die Ukraine hält die ganze Welt nach wie vor in Atem. Alle Wissenschaftler*innen, die derzeit FWF-Projekte leiten, sind eingeladen, ukrainische Kolleg*innen in ihre wissenschaftliche Arbeit einzubinden (nähere Informationen). Auf der Website der Forschungsförderung finden Sie weitere Fördermöglichkeiten für Forschende aus der Ukraine. Positive Nachrichten gibt es im Bereich der Drittmittelförderungen: Wir gratulieren Melanie Unseld, Institut für Musikwissenschaft und Interpretationsforschung, herzlich zur Zuerkennung der FWF-Förderung für das Projekt „Musikerfamilien: Konstellationen und Konzepte“ und wünschen viel Erfolg bei der Umsetzung! Herzliche Gratulation auch an Alex Hofmann, Institut für musikalische Akustik – Wiener Klangstil, zur Förderung des PEEK-Projekts „Etüden für Live-Elektronik“, das einen weiteren wichtigen Schritt für die vielgestaltige Weiterentwicklung der künstlerischen Forschung an der mdw darstellt. Mai 2022 wird vier Beiträge der mdw präsentieren: Das Exilarte-Zentrum öffnet seine Pforten zum Thema „Vom NS-Regime vertrieben, verfolgt und verboten - was uns musikalische Nachlässe erzählen“; Alexander Flor stellt mittels einer interaktiven Station sein Dissertationsthema „Das Dramma per musica im Konzeptalbum“ in der Aula der Wissenschaften vor und Nachwuchsforschende am Antonio Salieri Institut für Gesang und Stimmforschung produzieren einen digitalen Videobeitrag. Außerdem feiert das PEEK-Projekt „Creative (Mis)Understandings“ im Weltmuseum Wien seinen Projektabschluss. Schauen Sie vorbei! Dear colleagues, The Russian Federation's war against Ukraine continues to keep the whole world struggling. All scientists currently leading FWF projects are invited to involve Ukrainian colleagues in their scientific projects (more information). On our website you can find further funding opportunities for researchers from Ukraine. Turning now to more positive news in the area of third-party funding… We warmly congratulate Melanie Unseld, Department of Musicology and Performance Studies, on being awarded FWF funding for the project "Musicians' Families: Constellations and Concepts" and wish her every success in its implementation! Congratulations also to Alex Hofmann, Department of Music Acoustics – Wiener Klangstil, on the funding of the PEEK project "Etudes for Live Electronics", which represents another important step for the further multifaceted development of artistic research at the mdw. All the best! There is also news from the mdw's own open-access publishing house, mdwPress: as of now, book projects based on dissertations (with distinction) can be submitted. The Lange Nacht der Forschung (Long Night of Research) on 20 May 2022 will include four contributions from the mdw: The Exilarte Centre will open its doors on the topic "Expelled, persecuted and forbidden by the Nazi regime - what musical estates tell us", Alexander Flor will present his dissertation topic "The dramma per musica in the concept album" by means of an interactive station in the Aula der Wissenschaften, and early-stage researchers at the Antonio Salieri Department of Vocal Studies and Vocal Research in Music Education will produce a digital video contribution.
