Liebe Kolleg_innen, das Semester neigt sich seinem Ende zu und der längste Tag des Jahres steht am 24.6.2023 vor der Tür. Wir können auf eine viel bewegte erste Jahreshälfte zurückblicken. Doch auch in den bevorstehenden Sommermonaten finden spannende Veranstaltungen statt! Das am Institut für Musikwissenschaft und Interpretationsforschung (IMI) angesiedelte ERC-Projekt „GOING VIRAL. Music and Emotions during Pandemics (1679–1919)“ veranstaltet Anfang Juli eine Summer School, im Zuge derer zwei öffentliche Keynotes gehalten werden (Seilerstätte 26, Raum A0201): 4.7.2023, 18:00: Remi Chiu (John Hopkins University) 6.7.2023, 18:00: Austin C. Okigbo (University of Boulder Colorado) Von 26.-30.8.2023 findet heuer die isaScience wieder in Reichenau/Rax statt und feiert 10-jähriges Jubiläum! Das Programm ist bereits online. Hier noch einige Termine im September, auf die wir bereits jetzt aufmerksam machen wollen: SAVE THE DATE! Der mdw young research award wird heuer zum ersten Mal verliehen. Er zeichnet vorwissenschaftliche Arbeiten zu Themen rund um Musik und darstellende Kunst aus, die im Rahmen der österreichischen Matura verfasst und mit „sehr gut“ beurteilt wurden. Wir freuen uns, dass insgesamt fünf Arbeiten im Rahmen einer feierlichen Veranstaltung am 27.9.2023 ausgezeichnet werden können. Wir danken allen Kolleg_innen nochmals sehr herzlich für die Unterstützung und das wertvolle Feedback zum Auswahlverfahren! Das Projekt „From STEM to STEAM“ im Rahmen des WTZ Ost beschäftigt sich mit dem Potenzial der Künste für die 'hard sciences' (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics); STEAM versteht sich als prozesshafter Ansatz, der künstlerische Methoden einbringt, um nachhaltigere Lösungen für gesundheitliche, ökologische und soziale Herausforderungen zu finden. Vom 28.-29.9.2023 findet die STEAM TRANSFER Konferenz im Semperdepot Wien statt – Aleksandra Bajde wird am Freitag die Workshop-Insel „Culture & SDG“ leiten. Die European Researchers Night findet heuer am 29.9.23, 15:00-00:00 an der Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien statt. Dear colleagues! The semester is drawing to a close and the longest day of the year is just around the corner on June 24, 2023. We can look back on an eventful first half of the year. However, exciting events are also taking place in the upcoming summer months! The ERC project based at the Department of Musicology and Performance Studies (IMI), "GOING VIRAL. Music and Emotions during Pandemics (1679-1919)" will host a summer school in early July, during which two public keynotes will take place at Seilerstätte 26, Room A0201: 4.7.2023, 18:00: Remi Chiu (John Hopkins University). 6.7.2023, 18:00: Austin C. Okigbo (University of Boulder Colorado). On August 26-30, 2023, isaScience will take place again in Reichenau/Rax and celebrates its 10th anniversary! The conference programme can already be found already online. Here are a few more events in September that we would already like to draw your attention to: SAVE THE DATE! The mdw young research award will be presented for the first time this year. It honors pre-academic papers on topics related to music and the performing arts that were written in the context of the Austrian Matura and were graded with "Sehr gut". We are pleased to announce that a total of five papers will be awarded during a festive event on 27.9.2023. Once again, we sincerely thank all colleagues who were involved in the evaluation process for the support and valuable feedback! The WTZ Ost project "From STEM to STEAM" focuses on the potential of the arts for the 'hard sciences' (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics); STEAM is understood as a process approach that brings in artistic methods to find more sustainable solutions for health, environmental and social challenges. From 28-29.9.2023, the STEAM TRANSFER conference will take place at the Semperdepot Vienna - Aleksandra Bajde will lead the workshop island "Culture & SDG" on Friday. The European Researchers Night will take place this year on 29.9.2023, 15:00-00:00, at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Additionally, there is the possibility to offer workshops for school classes in the morning.
