Liebe Kolleg_innen, ab dem Sommersemester wird das Team der Forschungsförderung durch Olja Janjuš verstärkt, die als Data Steward im Bereich Forschungsdaten Beratung und Unterstützung anbietet. Wir freuen uns sehr auf die Zusammenarbeit! Außerdem gibt es wieder gute Nachrichten bei der Einwerbung von Drittmitteln! Wir gratulieren herzlich zu vier neuen Projekten an der mdw, die im Rahmen des ESPRIT-Programms bzw. Erwin-Schrödinger-Programms des FWF gefördert werden:
Mit Freude blicken wir auch auf eine außerordentlich erfolgreiche Klausur der Wissenschaften am 1. März 2024 mit über 80 Teilnehmer*innen zurück. Die Veranstaltung hat in beeindruckender Weise gezeigt, wie vielfältig, engagiert und stark die Forschungscommunity an der mdw ist. Wir danken allen, die dabei waren und aktiv zum Gelingen der Veranstaltung beigetragen haben! Aus den Diskussionen zu den Überthemen „Forschen an der mdw – Wie arbeiten wir?“ und „Wissenschaftskommunikation“ nehmen wir eine Reihe von ToDos und Anregungen für unsere weitere Arbeit mit. In den kommenden Monaten gilt es nun, diese gemeinsam mit anderen Abteilungen zu konkretisieren und nach Möglichkeit auch direkt in die Umsetzung zu bringen. Wir werden diesbezüglich weiterhin in engem Austausch mit den Forschenden bleiben und freuen uns auf die Zusammenarbeit. Das PostDoc Fellowship ist als konkrete Maßnahme bereits aus dem Austausch der vergangenen Jahre hervorgegangen. Ab morgen, 20. März, können wir es erfreulicherweise zum zweiten Mal ausschreiben. Die Bewerbung ist bis 20. Mai möglich, eine Aussendung mit allen Informationen folgt. Darüber hinaus läuft noch bis zum 25. März die Bewerbungsfrist der ersten mdw Spring School, die unter dem Titel „Sonic Dialogues: Intersections of Art and Sound in Public Spaces“ vom 12.-14. Juni im Rahmen von KlangBildKlang ein interdisziplinäres Forum für PhD-Studierende und andere Early-stage Researchers bieten wird. Im Rahmen der European Universities Alliance IN.TUNE fand am 6. März ein virtuelles Kick-Off Meeting statt, das zum Ziel hatte, Studierende, Lehrende und Forschende über die Aktivitäten und Vorhaben im Rahmen der acht Work Packages zu informieren. Therese Kaufmann von der Forschungsförderung wird die mdw in Work Package 4, Strengthening Our Research Dimension, das von der Sibelius Akademie (UNIARTS) in Helsinki koordiniert wird, vertreten. Interessierte können sich gerne an die Forschungsförderung wenden.

Dear colleagues, Starting in the summer semester, Olja Janjuš is joining the Research Support team as data steward and will offer advice and support in matters of research data. We are very much looking forward to working with her! We are also excited to share good news regarding the acquisition of external funding! Congratulations to four new projects at the mdw that are being funded as part of the FWF’s ESPRIT and Erwin Schrödinger programs:
We can also look back with pleasure on an extraordinarily successful Research Conclave on March 1 with more than 80 participants. The event impressively demonstrated how diverse, committed, and strong the research community at the mdw is. We would like to thank everyone who attended and actively contributed to the success of the event! From the discussions on the overarching topics of “Research at the mdw - How do we work?” and “Science communication”, we take away a number of to-dos and suggestions for our future work. In the coming months, we’ll be working with other departments to flesh these out and, where possible, implement them directly. We will remain in close contact with researchers in this regard and look forward to working with you. The PostDoc Fellowship has already emerged as a concrete measure from the exchange of previous years. From tomorrow, March 20, we are pleased to be able to invite submissions for the second time. Applications can be submitted until May 20, a mailing with all the information will follow. Additionally, the application deadline for the first mdw Spring School, which will offer an interdisciplinary forum for PhD students and other early-stage researchers under the title “Sonic Dialogues: Intersections of Art and Sound in Public Spaces” from June 12-14 as part of KlangBildKlang, is still open until March 25. As part of the European Universities Alliance IN.TUNE, a virtual kick-off meeting was held on March 6 with the aim of informing students, teachers and researchers about the activities and projects within the eight work packages. Therese Kaufmann from Research Support will represent the mdw in Work Package 4, Strengthening Our Research Dimension, which is coordinated by the Sibelius Academy (UNIARTS) in Helsinki.
