AR-Pilot – Call für Artistic Research-Projekte an der mdw

Die mdw schreibt zum vierten Mal eine interne Förderung für Pilotprojekte im Bereich der künstlerischen Forschung aus. Gefördert werden innovative Forschungsprojekte mit einer entsprechend ausgewiesenen Methodik der Artistic Research, die zur Vorbereitung eines Drittmittelantrags dienen, insbesondere im Rahmen des PEEK-Programms des FWF. Bevorzugt werden Projekte, die eine Publikation (z.B. im Research Catalogue) vorsehen sowie transdisziplinäre und kollaborative Projekte. Insgesamt stehen 20.000 Euro zur Verfügung.

Antragsberechtigt sind alle mdw-Angehörigen, insbesondere des künstlerischen und wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses einschließlich (PhD- bzw. Dr. Artium-) Studierende. Die Umsetzung der Projekte soll innerhalb eines Jahres erfolgen. Die maximale Fördersumme beträgt jeweils 5.000 Euro.

Auswahlkritierien

• künstlerische und theoretische Qualität (im Hinblick auf einen Drittmittelantrag)
• künstlerisch-wissenschaftliche und/oder gesellschaftliche Relevanz
• Durchführbarkeit des Projektvorhabens (innerhalb eines Jahres)

Auswahlverfahren

Die Auswahl der zu fördernden Projekte erfolgt durch eine intern und extern besetzte Jury unter dem Vorsitz von ao. Univ.-Prof. Johannes Kretz. Die Bekanntgabe der Förderentscheidung erfolgt voraussichtlich Ende Mai 2024.

Antragsunterlagen (in drei getrennten Pdf-Dateien)

• Projektbeschreibung mit Zeitplan (max. 3 Seiten)
• max. Kurzbiografien und einer Liste von einschlägigen Publikationen, künstlerischen Werken und anderen Leistungen (max. 2 Seiten)
• Kostenkalkulation in tabellarischer Form.

Anträge sind bis 21.4.2024 mit dem Betreff „Antrag AR-Pilot“ an forschungsfoerderung@mdw.ac.at zu richten.

Förderbare Kosten

Förderbar sind alle direkten Kosten (Personal-, Sach- und Reisekosten, Werkverträge, begründete andere Kosten) in Zusammenhang mit der Umsetzung des Projekts. Eine Kofinanzierung aus Eigen- bzw. Drittmitteln ist zulässig. Die Abrechnung erfolgt über das Institut bzw. das Artistic Research Center.

Berichtslegung

Innerhalb von drei Monaten nach Projektende sind ein Endbericht und eine Kostenabrechnung in tabellarischer Form mit einer Gegenüberstellung von geplanten und tatsächlichen Kosten vorzulegen. Die Fördernehmer_innen speichern Open Access Publikationen gegebenenfalls in der Publikationsplattform pub.mdw ab bzw. veröffentlichen im Research Catalogue. Für die Langzeitarchivierung von Projektoutputs (Videos, Audios und anderer Forschungsdaten) wird das mdwRepository verwendet.

AR-Pilot – Call for Artistic Research Projects at the mdw

Application deadline: 21.4.2024

For the fourth time, the mdw invites applications for internal funding for pilot projects in the field of artistic research. A total of € 20,000 are available for innovative research projects clearly demonstrating the use of appropriate artistic research methodology and serving as pilots for potential third-party funding applications, especially within the framework of the FWF's PEEK programme. Preference will be given to projects leading to prospective publications (e.g. in the Research Catalogue), as well as to transdisciplinary and collaborative projects.

All members of the mdw, in particular emerging artists and early-stage researchers, including (PhD or Doctor Artium Program) students, are eligible to apply. Projects should be implemented within the course of twelve months. Up to € 5,000 are available for each successful application.

Selection criteria

• Artistic and theoretic quality (considering a third-party funding application)
• Artistic-scientific and/or social relevance
• Feasibility of the project (within one year)

Selection procedure

Successful applications will be determined by an interdisciplinary jury of internal and external experts under the direction of Prof. Johannes Kretz. Final decisions are expected to be announced by the end of May 2024.

Eligible costs

All direct costs (staff, equipment and travel costs, subcontracts, and other substantiated costs) in connection with the implementation of the project as well as the presentation and publication of results are eligible for funding. Co-financing through personal or third-party funds is possible. Payments are to be made directly through the respective department or the Artistic Research Center.

Reporting

A final report must be submitted within three months of the end of the project, together with a breakdown of costs (in tabular form) and a comparison of planned and actual expenses. If applicable, funding recipients are required to store open access materials in the publication platform pub.mdw or publish it in the Research Catalogue. Other outputs (videos, audios and other research data) are to be filed in the mdwRepository.
