2025 brings new opportunities for funding, education and networking. For those who are spontaneous, applying to the IFK for a Junior Fellowship could be interesting. If you want to connect with other researchers at the mdw, you should definitely go to this year's "Klausur der Wissenschaften", and if you are planning to go abroad, the OEAD Outgoing Scholarship Programs might be something for you.

☞ IFK Junior Fellowships

The IFK Junior Fellowship is for young Austrian, as well as for non-Austrian doctoral students who are being supervised at an Austrian university. The dissertation project must be an interdisciplinary undertaking in the humanities, social sciences or art that addresses the study of culture(s), its issues and methods. The call is still open until 26 January, 2025. 

☞ OEAD Outgoing Scholarship Programs

The Marietta Blau Grant offers financial support for six- to twelve-months stays abroad for highly qualified doctoral or PhD students at Austrian universities. Further, the Austrian Centres of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Education and Research (BMBWF) support a research stay of doctoral students throughout the academic year as part of their dissertation at an institute of the following Centres Austria: Minnesota, Jerusalem and New Orleans for the fields of social sciences and humanities and Alberta/Edmonton additionally for the Arts. The deadline for both programs is 01 February, 2025.

☞ Six PhD Positions at mdw

We are very pleased to announce that there will be a second round of the structured doctoral program (sdp) at mdw on the topic ‘Performing Matters’. Once again, six doctoral students will get the opportunity to work together on the overarching topic. The positions are funded for four years, further information can be found here. Deadline for application: 28 February, 2025.
