☞ Peers4Careers

There are only a few days left to apply for the 9-month accountability program Peers4Careers (P4C), which is offered by the LBG Career Center. Since doctoral students from the mdw were also involved in the last round and we received great feedback, we would like to take this opportunity to recommend this unique format to you. Deadline: March 24, 2025.

 

☞ isaResearch Summer School 2025

The isaResearch Summer School is an interdisciplinary and international forum for early-stage researchers taking place from 21-23 July 2025 on campus of the mdw. The three-day workshop invites applications from PhD students and other early-stage researchers from disciplines including (but not limited to) Musicology, Dance and Performance Studies, Urban Studies, Artistic Research, Queer Theory, Cultural Studies, Music Theory, Indigenous Studies, Music Sociology, Critical Race Studies, Ethnomusicology, Popular Music Studies, Post-Colonial Studies, Art History, and Film and Media Studies. Presentation proposals should be connected to the topic of the participant’s thesis or current research project and can be submitted until April 28, 2025. Contact: Kathrin Heinrich isaresearch@mdw.ac.at

We would like to invite you to the next and last "Dissertant:innen Kolleg", taking place on May 09, 2025 from 10:00 AM - 06:00 PM. The event will include an information session on the new PhD Curriculum. 


Work outside academia

The LBG Career Center offers a series of expert talks such as "Careers beyond academia in Research Management" by Aliette Dörflinger. If you are a researcher considering a career beyond academia, research management might be an exciting opportunity for you. The talk will be in English, online via zoom on March 27, 2025 10 AM – 11:30 AM. Please register here

Skills: LaTeX for beginners

This course offers an introduction to LaTeX, a powerful text typesetting system that is used especially but not only for scientific papers and publications. 
LaTeX is now also used in the humanities and social sciences. Participants will learn about the basic functionality of LaTeX (via the free web server Overleaf) and put it into practice. The course is free for mdw members and will take place 
on Friday April 4, 2025 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM and Friday April 11, 2025 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Please register via ZfW.


The Angela Krosik Award for Doctoral Study

The Anglo-Austrian Society is awarding the Angela Krosik Award for Doctoral Study 2025You can find their application conditions here. Applications can be submitted from March 18 to June 30, 2025.

International Tonkunst-Prize for Musicology

DIE TONKUNST e. V. will award the “International Tonkunst-Preis for Musicology” for the fourth time. In 2025, the prize will be awarded once each for applications from doctoral and postdoctoral candidates. Deadline: June 30, 2025.

Research Prize of the Margaretha Lupac Foundation 2025

The Research Prize is awarded every two years for either a complete academic work, an academic publication or a completed, assessed dissertation, that promote understanding of the foundations, functioning and fundamental values of the Austrian Republic and contribute to conveying the importance of tolerance in the discourse on issues of politics, art and social developments, see here.

The prize honors outstanding academic achievements that deal with one or more of these topics. Submitted publications/dissertations must not be older than three years. Self-nominations and multiple nominations are possible. The prize is endowed with €21,000 and can be split between up to two applicants. Applications can be submitted between January 15 and June 15, 2025.
