Academic Integrity

has been an important issue for the rectorate of the mdw for a long time. It encompasses the integrity of the scientific working methods of lecturers, researchers and students together with the subject of scientific writing and good scientific practice to which all members of a university are committed.

The organizational unit Organizational Law and Professorial Appointments Management (ORB) and Competence Center for Academic Integrity see themselves as an interface for raising awareness in the field of scientific/artistic propriety. This is where the threads of prevention, exchange of working materials, information on working methods and latest developments as well as the verification relating to textual identities come together. The experts of the Competence Center have been working intensively on this topic for several years and have established a large national and international network.

With the key aspect Academic Integrity the mdw together with its lecturers want to raise their students’ awareness, to guide and to provide information. The goal is to convey a lasting impression of what is allowed and desired in this context as well as where the boundaries are.

 

 

The mdw - University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna is a member of the Austrian Agency for Research Integrity and the ORB-experts are members of the „AG Plagiatsbekämpfung und -prävention“.
The mdw also a member of the ENAI (European Network for Academic Integrity).
