Max VOLBERS (on leave)
The harpsichordist and recorder player Max Volbers is one of the most prominent early music specialists of the younger generation. He received his training from Brigitte Meier-Sprinz, Ulrike Volkhardt and Winfried Michel. Currently he is studying a master`s degree at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg under Dorothee Oberlinger and Florian Birsak.
Over the course of his intensive studies of the music in the period between the 16th– 18thcentury, he also studied “Historical Performance Practice” with Reinhard Goebel. Max Volbers is the winner of the “GWK-Förderpreis 2013” and was awarded the highly-endowed first prize of the “Musikwettbewerbs der GenRE” in Cologne in 2016. In 2015 he was a finalist of the “International Telemann Competition”. In 2017, he was the first recorder player ever to reach the orchestral finale of the “German Music Competition” and won the “9. International Johann Heinrich Schmelzer Competition”. Max Volbers performs with musicians such as Dorothee Oberlinger, Maurice Steger and Hille Perl and could be heard at the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival, the Herrenchiemsee Festival, the FESTIVAL NEXT GENERATION Bad Ragaz, the mommenta Dortmund and the Audi Summer Concerts. He collaborates with conductors such as Reinhard Goebel, Sir Roger Norrington, Marc Minkowski and Pietari Inkinen.
Max Volbers is a fellow of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, the Ernsting Foundation Coesfeld, which provides him with two valuable instruments, and the Cordes Foundation. For the season 2018/2019 he was admitted to the “Bundesauswahl Konzerte Junger Künstler” (BAKJK).
