SUMMARY:CONVERSAZIONI | Elena ABBADO
DESCRIPTION:Fux‘ Gradus ad Parnassum and Italy: Cultural ties and the controversial reception around the peninsula\nOn the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the publication of Fux’s Gradus ad Parnassum (Vienna\, 1725)\, the lecture aims for the first time to investigate the links of the famous treatise with Italian musical culture and its reception in three Italian centres that were fundamental for the dissemination of music theory in Italy during the 18th century: Bologna\, Rome and Naples. Starting from Harry White’s essay Fux and the Imperative of Italy\, the lecture will illustrate through historical documents\, iconographic sources and the various manuscript and printed translations in Italian\, that the reception of Fux’s Gradus ad Parnassum evolved with different outcomes depending on the contexts in which it developed. The manuscript of an unknown new translation of Fux‘ Gradus by the Neapolitan composer Pasquale Cafaro (1715-1787) will also be presented for the first time. \n  \nDieser Vortrag wird in englischer Sprache gehalten. \n  \nMusikalische Beiträge: \nJohann Joseph Fux (ca. 1660–1741)\naus Giunone Placata (1725) \nAria\nA placare una superba\nMaria Pysmenna\, Venere\nXaver Eckert\, Salterio obbligato\nLisa Braun\, Magdalena Hasibeder\, Basso Continuo \nAria\nTutto il bel vorrei raccolto\nElisabeth Kirchner\, Giunone\nFranziska Hoffmann\, Chalumeau obbligato\nLisa Braun\, Magdalena Hasibeder\, Basso Continuo \nAria\nRuscelletto\nElisabeth Kirchner\, Giunone\nRose Chaffey\, Violoncello solo\nLisa Braun\, Magdalena Hasibeder\, Basso Continuo \nStudierende und Absolventinnen des Instituts für Alte Musik \n  \nFreier Eintritt
