Opera and concert performances have taken him to the Verbier, Lucerne, Grafenegg, Glyndebourne and Salzburg Festivals, the Vienna, Hamburg and Berlin State Operas, the Metropolitan Opera and Canadian Opera Company. He enjoys a close collaboration with the Vienna State Opera where he could be heard in all major Mozart and Strauss roles.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his opera career, Michael Schade devotes much of his artistry to concert and recital performances. He appears regularly with the leading orchestras of the world, such as the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Berlin and New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra and the Symphony orchestras of Toronto, Montreal and Boston, under such renowned conductors as Bolton, Bychkov, Chailly, Gergiev, Harding, Jansons, Jordan, Luisi, Mehta, Muti, Nagano, Rattle, Thielemann, Ticciati, Welser-M\u00f6st and Young. His musical activities were strongly influenced by his frequent collaboration with Nikolaus Harnoncourt.<\/p>\n<p>Song recitals have taken him to all major venues, such as Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna, Vienna State Opera, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Wigmore Hall London, New York\u2019s Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie Hall as well as to the Verbier Festival, the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, and the Grafenegg Festival.<\/p>\n<p>Schade is a prolific recording artist, his numerous recordings and immense repertoire range from Bach\u2019s Passions to Mahler\u2019s Lied von der Erde.<br \/>\nIn 2007 the Vienna State Opera has awarded Mr. Schade with the title Austrian Kammers\u00e4nger. Schade is the artistic director of the Hapag-Lloyd Stella Maris Vocal Competition. The Internationale Barocktage Stift Melk has appointed Mr. Schade its Artistic Director through 2022.
