Iason Marmaras is a keyboardist, singer, and conductor.<\/p>\n

As a soloist, singer, and player, he is a regular guest with ensembles such as Cappella Pratensis (Stratton Bull), La Risonanza (Fabio Bonizzoni), Ex Silentio (Dimitris Kountouras), and Armonia Atenea (George Petrou and Markellos Chryssicos). With these and other ensembles he has sung and played all across Europe and in North America.<\/p>\n

\n

A passionate improviser and continuo player, he is a member of the Scroll Ensemble, with whom he extemporises entire concerts after historical models.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Fascinated by the intimacy of solo song, he performs self-accompanied Lieder-Abende on the fortepiano, as well as renaissance songs in the company of his friend, the lutenist Paul Beier.<\/p>\n

Iason is the founder and director of the Schola Cantorum Sancti Pauli, a choir and school of polyphony under the joint support of the Athens Conservatoire and St Paul\u2019s Anglican Church in Athens. He has directed its ensembles the Cantores & Cappella Sancti Pauli in monthly Renaissance Choral Evensong services at St Paul’s and Latin Renaissance Vespers at St Dionysius Cathedral in Athens, as well as concerts in Greece and abroad.<\/p>\n

Iason is the winner of the 1st prize of the First International Basso Continuo and Partimento Realization Competition in 2019, as well the Berliner Bach-Wettbewerb with ensemble Chorda Elegans.<\/p>\n

He has studied harpsichord, early music singing, and maestro al cembalo at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, as well early music theory and composition at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel.<\/p>\n

\n

He has taught harpsichord, early music theory and basso continuo at the Centre for Early Music of the Athens Conservatoire since 2017.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/p><\/div>
