Badia \u2013 Oratorio di Santa Teresa (1708)"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"flex_column av_one_full  flex_column_div av-zero-column-padding first  avia-builder-el-0  avia-builder-el-no-sibling  \" style='border-radius:0px; '><section class=\"av_textblock_section \"  itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock  '   itemprop=\"text\" ><h2>The first re-performance of this baroque jewel in over 300 years at the place of its creation<\/h2>\n<p>The Ursuline convent in Vienna, founded by the Dowager Empress Eleonora Gonzaga-Nevers (1628-1686), became an important musical center in Vienna in the last decades of the 17th century.<\/p>\n<p>Dedicated to the education and training of girls, the Ursulines put a special emphasis on music and over time became famous for the quality of their performances.<\/p>\n<p>The annual visit of the emperor on St. Ursula&#8217;s Day (October 21) is a highlight of these musical activities with the performance of an oratorio in front of the imperial family. On this occasion, the \u201cOratorio di Santa Teresa\u201d with music by the court composer Carlo Agostino Badia (1672-1738) was performed in 1708.
