Ever since the Archive’s establishment, its core responsibilities have included researching and documenting our institution’s history.

Exhibitions, lectures, and publications are just as central to our activities as are cooperative arrangements and individual projects with colleagues at the mdw, external research organisations, and other archives.

Conducting research on the mdw’s history from various historical and cultural studies-based perspectives serves to highlight the transformational processes it has undergone while also constantly providing new glimpses into the past.

The Archive pursues a broad methodical and scholarly approach, and by involving the disciplines represented at the mdw, it makes an important contribution to transdisciplinary research at our institution.
