Johanna Bilgeri, geboren 2001 in Hittisau/Vorarlberg, studiert seit 2019 an der mdw – Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien bei Richard Galler. 2021 erspielte sie den 1. Preis beim Internationalen Anton Rubinstein Wettbewerb für Holzbläser_innen. Im Februar 2022 gewann sie ein Stipendium der Yamaha Music Europe Foundation (YMEF). Die junge Musikerin besuchte Meisterkurse bei Dag Jensen, Simon Van Holen und Sophie Dervaux. Orchestererfahrungen sammelte sie unter anderem beim Sinfonieorchester Liechtenstein und bei den Wiener Symphonikern. Seit Mai 2022 ist sie fixes Mitglied des Symphonieorchesters Vorarlberg. Mit ihrem Trio Mélange tritt sie in Österreich und international auf, unter anderem 2019 beim Kammermusikfest Lockenhaus. Solistische Auftritte absolvierte sie mit dem Sinfonieorchester des Vorarlberger Landeskonservatoriums, bei Talente im Funkhaus (ORF) und bei Sterne von Morgen. 2020/21 war Bilgeri Stipendiatin des Anny Felbermayer-Fonds zur Förderung talentierter Studierender der mdw. Im Juni 2021 gab sie als Gewinnerin des WSY-Talent der Wiener Symphoniker ihr Debüt als Solistin mit den Wiener Symphonikern unter der Leitung von Andrés Orozco-Estrada im Wiener Konzerthaus. Die Fagottistin gewann den mdw great talent award 2021.
Johanna Bilgeri, born in Hittisau, Vorarlberg, in 2001, has studied with Richard Galler at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna since 2019. In 2021, she won a first prize at the International Anton Rubinstein Competition for Woodwinds. In February 2022, she was awarded a scholarship by the Yamaha Music Europe Foundation (YMEF). The young musician has attended masterclasses given by Dag Jensen, Simon Van Holen, and Sophie Dervaux, and has gained orchestra experience performing with groups such as the Sinfonieorchester Liechtenstein and the Vienna Symphony. In May 2022, she became a permanent member of the Symphonieorchester Vorarlberg. She makes concert appearances with her Trio Mélange in Austria and abroad, including performances at the 2019 Lockenhaus Chamber Music Festival. Bilgeri has appeared as a soloist with the symphony orchestra of the Vorarlberg Landeskonservatorium, in the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation’s Talente im Funkhaus, and in Sterne von Morgen. In 2020/ 21, she received a scholarship from the Anny Felbermayer-Fonds for the promotion of talented mdw students. As a winner of the Vienna Symphony’s WSY-Talent competition, she made her debut with that orchestra in June 2021 at Wiener Konzerthaus under the direction of Andrés Orozco-Estrada. The bassoonist won the 2021 mdw great talent award.

Der mdw great talent award powered by Christian Zeller wurde im Herbst 2020 erstmals ausgeschrieben und richtet sich unter dem Motto „Die Sterne von morgen fördern wir heute“ ausschließlich an Studierende der mdw aus den Bereichen Tasteninstrumente, Streich- und andere Saiteninstrumente, Blas- und Schlaginstrumente, Kammermusik und Spezialensembles, Gesang und Musiktheater sowie Popularmusik. Auftrittserfahrung und Professionalität sind grundlegende Voraussetzungen. Stifter Christian Zeller hebt die Bedeutung von Exzellenz und Nachhaltigkeit, die im Zentrum der Aktivitäten der Christian Zeller Privatstiftung stehen, im Besonderen auch für die Kunst und Kultur hervor: „Wer an Exzellenz im Kulturbereich denkt, kommt an Österreich nicht vorbei – und dazu trägt die mdw entscheidend bei.“
The mdw great talent award, established by Christian Zeller, was first awarded in autumn 2020 and in keeping with its motto “We offer support today to the stars of tomorrow” is devoted exclusively to students at the mdw in the areas of keyboard instruments, bowed and other stringed instruments, wind and percussion instruments, chamber music and special ensembles, voice and music theatre, and popular music. Performing experience and professionalism are fundamental requirements. The founder and benefactor Christian Zeller emphasises the importance of excellence and sustainability, which are the focal points of the activities of the Christian Zeller Privatstiftung, particularly for arts and culture: “When one thinks of excellence in the area of culture, one can’t help but think of Austria—and the mdw plays a crucial role in this regard.”
