Current Coronavirus Testing Information
According to information from the Vienna Social Fund (Fonds Soziales Wien), the following two types of support are available to those who wish to use the mass testing centre at Messe Wien:
- For seniors or other people who have difficulty walking, 80 wheelchairs are available at the Messe Wien location. Austrian military personnel will be available to accompany wheelchair users; their assistance may be requested upon arrival.
- The Messe Wien testing centre staff includes two members who know Austrian sign language and may be asked for support.
Inclusive & Diversity-Sensitive Teaching
We’re continuing to collect good practice examples relevant to diversity-sensitive teaching at the mdw, which we will be publishing here. You’re very welcome to send us tested and proven concepts and materials from your teaching. (henneberg@mdw.ac.at)
An extensive collection of the most varied ideas for diversity-sensitive teaching can be found at the web presence of the University of Vienna’s accessibility team “Team Barrierefrei”: https://barrierefreielehre.univie.ac.at
Furthermore, a concise and very well conceived handout on inclusive teaching was developed by the University of Graz as part of its 2018 awareness campaign, and of even more recent origin (01/2021) is a handout on accessibility in online teaching (co-authored by the mdw’s Beate Henneberg) published at the web presence of the digital-age higher education think tank Hochschulforum Digitalisierung in response to the universal switchover to remote learning in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
