Professorial Appointments pursuant to Section 98 UG
The procedure for appointing a university professorship comprises several stages. In the course of this process, the Rectorate, Rector, Senate, Working Group on Equal Opportunities (AKG) and the Appointments Commission are all involved. The relevant statutory provisions can be found in the Universities Act 2002.
The Departement of Organizational Law and Professorial Appointments Management – ORB regards itself as an interface between the Rector, the Senate, the Appointments Commissions, the respective organisational units and the applicants themselves. During the proceedings, the ORB advises on legal issues and oversees administrative matters. Prior to the Rector making a decision, all procedural elements are subjected to an extensive legal review.
