Members of the mdw

(Students, teaching staff, administrators)

• Your mdwCard functions as your library card.
• The mdwCard is ready for use as a library card when issued; activation by the library is no longer necessary.
• Please note: members of the mdw must use their mdwCards as their library cards. No other cards will be issued.

Non-Members of the mdw

• After you’ve successfully registered, you can log in to the online catalogue dacapo and request items from the closed stacks or specific institute libraries.

Please note:

You’ll receive your physical library card at the circulation desk on your first visit to the ub.mdw. Please bring along the following documents:

Students at Austrian universities or universities of applied science

• valid student ID
• certificate of registration (Meldezettel) from the Central Register of Residence (ZMR)

Students at other Austrian educational institutions*

• valid student ID
• certificate of registration (Meldezettel) from the Central Register of Residence (ZMR)
• students below age 18: declaration of consent/Indemnity signed by a parent/guardian**

Employees of other Austrian educational institutions*

• employer-issued ID card or confirmation of employment
• certificate of registration (Meldezettel) from the Central Register of Residence (ZMR)
• valid photo ID

Other users with residency in Austria

• valid photo ID
• certificate of registration (Meldezettel) from the Central Register of Residence (ZMR)
• Annual fee: EUR 15

 * These include conservatories and public music schools.
