Stories of My Father

The works were created during the exploration prompted by the Absurd Questionnaire:
Father/Fathers
The works were created at home in the second laboratory on the topic of father/fathers.
The first screenshot shows the Artist Researcher Negin Rezaie Martos. She has a long brown beard glued on. Below that is the heading in large blue letters “FATHER FATHERS” and the details of the lab.
The second screenshot shows a painted-over carpet.
The images I used are all of Qashqai carpets. These carpets typically feature figures of men and animals, with women rarely depicted. The carpet I chose tells a story of men as warriors and also reflects nature. I created a collage with this carpet. Near the center, there’s a body without a face, surrounded by orange trees and hands. I also added a faded image of the Zagros Mountains to the collage.
For me, these carpets represent an old form of storytelling in Iran, one that needs to be revisited. In this piece, I didn’t modernize the story but aimed to evoke nostalgia and discuss the traditional roles of Qashqai men, along with my positive memories associated with them.
