Mentoring programme for pre- and postdocs at the mdw (women, inter* and non-binary persons)
Programme 2021
The mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna organized the first mentoring programme for pre- and postdoc researchers from March to December 2021. In light of the fact that academic life continues to be characterised by structural gender inequalities that can be seen in the underrepresentation of women, inter* and non-binary persons as professors, this programme is designed as a concrete measure to help counteract such unequal treatment over the course of one’s academic career.
Nine academics—from the fields of musicology, music acoustics, music education, music therapy, and film studies/artistic research— participated in the 2021 programme and spent a year deeply engaged in work on their academic careers, whose development they furthered through exchange with international mentors.
