Born in 1972 in the Hungarian city Nagyatád, István Bonyhádi began his musical career aged ten playing the piano. He first visited an elementary music school and the music high school in Pécs and in 1990-2000 majored in piano performance with Paul Badura-Skoda, Ludwig Hoffmann and Oleg Maisenberg at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.

Since 2002 Bonyhádi teaches as a piano accompanist at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien (Department of singing and music theater), as well as since 1998 at the Department of solo singing of Privatuniversität Konservatorium Wien“. He is regularly an invited guest of several master classes, such as "Internationale Sommerakademie Wien-Prag-Budapest", or "Wiener Meisterkurse", as well as "Pro Musica" and "Musik Ohne Grenzen" in Hungary. Master classes have led him to Asia several times (Thailand, Vietnam).

In 2009 he received an invitation from the "Mahidol University College of Music Bangok" and 2008 the "Hanoi National Academy of Music" as a lecturer and director of masterclasses for song (Lied) accompaniment and interpretation.

Bonyhadi was the official accompanist of singing competition "International Kärntner Sparkasse Wörthersee Musikstipendium" in 2005 and 2008. He also took part in competitions such as "Musica Juventutis" and "Belvedere" in Vienna, "Ferruccio Tagliavini" in Deutschlandsberg, "Robert Schumann" in Zwickau or "Richard Tauber" in London.

He was accompanist great singers such as Sylvia Geszty, Christa Ludwig and Roman Trekel.

Numerous recitals and concerts led István Bonyhádi to places ranging from Vienna, over to London and New York to Bangkok.
