HOLZ-BLECH-SCHLAG | Horn

Holz-Blech-Schlag is a cross-institutional project of the Gender_mdw platform to promote the visibility of female composers and to contribute to a more gender-equal repertoire. Since 2013, an annual master class for female composers has been held with a renowned female instrumentalist of the chosen instrument - this year with solo hornist Sibylle Mahni (Hochschule für Musik Würzburg). In the final concert, commissioned compositions by students and alumnae of the mdw will be premiered. In memory of Arnold Schönberg's students, the concert will open with the Chamber Symphony by Dika Newlin, and Elisabeth Kappel (University of Music and Performing Arts Graz) will speak about the 'overlooked' legacy.
