The virtual platform spiel|mach|t|raum was created on the occasion of 200 years of mdw - University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and is a knowledge platform in which spotlights are cast on the women's* history of the institution. The contents go back to an mdw exhibition of the same name in 2011, in which eleven female colleagues and two male colleagues of the mdw as well as an external dance scientist actively participated and whose contributions were edited and partially updated for the internet. spiel|mach|t|raum sees itself as a project in progress and would like to encourage that (much) more gender knowledge in music*theater*film is brought to light at the mdw.

The platform spiel|mach|t|raum is a cooperation project of the staff unit Equality, Gender Studies and Diversity with the Gender Professorship at the Institute for Cultural Management and Gender Studies as well as the archive of the mdw.
