As winners of the overall 2nd prize, the Audience Award, and the Musica Viva Australia Prize at the 2015 Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition, the Vienna-based Giocoso String Quartet has emerged as one of the most promising and exciting young string quartets of its generation.
The ensemble, currently in the chamber music master’s degree programme at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, has worked extensively with Johannes Meissl of the Artis Quartet.
They have also worked with numerous important personalities of the chamber music world including Hatto Beyerle (Alban Berg Quartet), András Keller (Keller Quartet), Evgenia Epshtein (Aviv Quartet), and Dan Prelipcean (Voces Quartet), as well as numerous others.
Highlights of the 2015/2016 season included their debut at the illustrious Wigmore Hall in London, the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest.
Additionally, they have been selected for the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ “New Austrian Sound Of Music” programme for the 2016/17 season.
