The Hanson Quartet was founded in 2012 by four students of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (CNSMDP). Its members—Anton Hanson, Jules Dussap (violins), Gabrielle Lafait (viola), and Simon Dechambre (cello)—are currently studying for their master’s degrees under Prof. Jean Sulem (Rosamunde Quartet) in Paris, and they have regularly attended masterclasses with members of the Ébène Quartet as well as Claire Desert, Christophe Giovaninetti, Hatto Beyerle, Johannes Meissl, and Peter Cropper. In 2014, they played as a quintet with Jean Sulem and in piano quartet and quintet formations at the festivals of IRCAM (Institute for Research and Coordination Acoustic/Music) and La Roque d’Anthéron. The Hanson Quartet has been a member of the European Chamber Music Academy since 2014 and were residents of the Singer-Polignac Foundation in 2015, and in 2016, they were awarded the 3rd prize at the International String Quartet Competition in Lyon.
