Simply Quartet was founded in 2008 under the tutelage of Jensen Horn-Sin Lam. Soon thereafter, Simply won the 1st prize at the 2009 Shanghai Chamber Music Competition and the Special Prize of the 2011 Beijing International Quartet Competition.
Beginning in 2012, the ensemble pursued further studies with Johannes Meissl at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and also participated in the “Haydn Total” recording program launched by the Chamber Music Department of the Tokyo University of the Arts and the mdw’s Joseph Haydn Department of Chamber Music. The following year, Simply was awarded the ECMA Prize of isa (the mdw’s International Summer Academy).
The members of Simply Quartet are Shen Danfeng, Zhang Wenting, Lu Xiang, and Ivan Valentin Hollup Roald.
