Isabel Charisius


As a member of the legendary Alban Berg Quartet, soloist and solo violist with leading orchestras,
Isabel Charisius has appeared regularly at the most prestigious venues in Europe, the Americas and
Asia. She works internationally as a musician, jury member and teacher.
Isabel’s teaching activities at the Universities of Lucerne (since 2006) and Cologne (2005-2012) gave
rise to a large community of alumni. Her students can be found among the winners of international
competitions and many of them are members of the world’s finest ensembles and orchestras. Isabel
teaches regularly at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Verbier Festival, ProQuartet in Paris,
Britten Pears Arts in Snape Maltings and other institutions.
Isabel Charisius plays her extraordinary viola «ABQ» by Laurentius Storioni (1780).
