Gonzalo Manrique is a versatile guitarist from Peru with international experience both as a soloist and in chamber formations. In addition to the repertoire for classical guitar, his stylistic spectrum also encompasses the interpretation of music on historical plucked instruments (romantic and baroque guitar) as well as popular music.

After completing his performance degree at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música in Peru, he continued his studies in Madrid and Vienna, ultimately completing instrumental education and performance degrees with honours at the mdw University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna under Professor Brigitte Zaczek.

His performing activities, which have taken him to the USA, Colombia, Peru, and ten European countries, have included appearances at venues including Vienna’s Musikverein and Konzerthaus, the Helmut List Halle in Graz, the Teatro Mayor in Bogota, the Kravis Center in Miami, Bolívar Hall in London, and the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid.

Gonzalo is a member of the ensemble Spirituosi, which won a gold medal at the 2018 Global Music Awards for the CD Souvenir Latino, and he performs regularly as part of various Latin American music projects in Europe.

Since 2015, he has been teaching acoustic guitar at the mdw’s Department of Popular Music, where he was appointed to a senior lecturer position following a successful hearing in March 2019. Soon thereafter, in October 2019, he began teaching classical guitar at the mdw’s Joseph Hellmesberger Department of String Instruments, Guitar and Harp in Music Education.

Gonzalo lives in Vienna.
