ALMA ROSÉ DEPARTMENT OF STRING INSTRUMENTS, GUITAR AND HARP
Conceiving of and engaging in educational work as a pursuit whose scope extends far beyond instrumental lessons to significantly impact society is the chosen objective of the members of the Alma Rosé Department.
The Department’s namesake, in her educational work at a concentration camp, succeeded not only in imparting artistic values but also in rescuing the lives of numerous imprisoned women.
Today, it is happily the case that our foremost priority can be to nourish young people’s enthusiasm for music and for work as educators in keeping with the highest ethical standards. A key role here is played by the Alma Rosé Department’s dedicated musicians and music educators, who have the privilege of passing on to students their specialised abilities as well as the joy that they take in music-making. It is against this backdrop that the interplay between artistic, practical, and theoretical subjects and the integration and testing of the newest research findings come together as a basis for future educators’ comprehensive musical and pedagogical development.
Openness to innovation, the transmission of preservation-worthy traditions, and the attainment of a high standard of quality are the objectives of this training. And the faculty of the Alma Rosé Department, as practicing musicians who are active as soloists and/or as members of renowned Austrian ensembles and orchestras, weave their own experiences into their teaching and thus form the link between training and actual practice.
