Music Education – Instruments (IME) | Harp


Programme objective:
Certification to teach 2 instruments or
1 instrument and voice in academic secondary schools (AHS)

Teaching activities may include:
Instrumental and/or voice instruction as an elective at academic secondary schools and as a compulsory subject in special upper-cycle programmes. Teaching of groups.

Admission criteria:
The level of skill demonstrated by the applicant in the entrance examination must be such that the level needed to teach this instrument and/or voice can be attained within this programme of study.

Entrance Examination:

As a 1st Instrument (corresponds to BA IGP)

  1. 1 etude at a level of difficulty equivalent to that of:
    “Bochsa” from 25 Exercises-Etudes op. 62
  2. 1 sonata at a level of difficulty equivalent to that of:
    J. Parry, Sonata No. 1
    J. B. Cardon, Sonata in F
  3. 1 solo work at a level of difficulty equivalent to that of:
    M. Glinka, Nocturne
    A. Hasselmans, Prière or Gondoliera, or
    C. Saint-Saëns, Fantaisie op. 95

As a 2nd instrument (corresponds to ME: 1st instrument and IGP: complementary 2nd instrument) 

  1. 1 etude at a level of difficulty equivalent to that of:
    F. Pozzoli, Studi di media difficolta
  2. 1 sonata at a level of difficulty equivalent to that of:
    F. J. Naderman, No. 2–4
    J. B. Krumpholtz, Sonata in B Major
  3. 1 solo work at a level of difficulty equivalent to that of:
    M. Tournier, 4 Preludes
    P. Angerer, Stadium Veronicae
  4. 1 piece from the realm of folk music (Irish, Alpine, or Latin American)
     

Bachelor’s degree examination:

As a 1st instrument (corresponds to IGP: bachelor’s degree examination)

  1. 1 concerto at a level of difficulty equivalent to that of:
    W. A. Mozart, Concerto for Flute and Harp
    G. F. Händel, Concerto in B-Flat Major
    C. Saint-Saëns, Morceau de Concert
  2. A multi-movement baroque or classical work at a level of difficulty equivalent to that of:
    J. Parry, 4 Sonatas
    G. B. Pescetti, Sonata in C Minor
    J. L. Dussek, Sonata in C Minor
  3. 2 solo works at a level of difficulty equivalent to that of:
    V. Mortari, Sonatina Prodigio
    N. Rota, Sarabande e Toccata
    M. Grandjany, Fantaisie sur un thème de J. Haydn
    M. Grandjany, Children’s Hour
  4. 1 chamber music work for any combination of instruments, performed with ensemble and at a level of difficulty equivalent to that of:
    C. Saint-Saëns, Fantaisie for Violin and Harp op. 124
    C. Bresgen, Serenade for Flute, Horn and Harp

One’s programme must contain a contemporary work.

All solo works, excepting difficult contemporary works, should be played from memory.

One’s chosen artistic programme must be made available in printed form at the examination.

All solo works, excepting difficult contemporary works, should be played from memory.

One’s chosen artistic programme must be made available in printed form at the examination.
