Violin“RHYTHMICS / RHYTHMIC AND MUSICAL EDUCATION”

1st Instrument and/or Area of Specialisation “1st Instrument”

Objective of Study:

Qualified playing on one’s 1st instrument and practice-related instrumental playing as part of specialised pedagogical and didactic as well as artistic and academic pre-professional training in the field of music and movement education. Development of one’s expressive abilities in the media of movement, music, and the human voice through the coursework included in the main artistic subject of “Rhythm / Rhythmic-Musical Education”.

The chosen area of specialisation adds depth to one’s studies. The objective of the area of specialisation “1st Instrument” is to attain a sufficient degree of basic skill on the instrument in question (corresponds to ME: 1st instrument). This degree of skill, in combination with knowledge transferred from the teaching qualifications obtained in the main artistic subject, should result in a basic foundation upon which to teach beginners.

Teaching activities may include:
Employment in occupational training and further training (multiplication) at preschool teacher training institutions, university colleges of teacher education, conservatories and universities of music, specialised schools for careers in social work, institutions that provide training in gymnastics, dance, and acting, and as freelance leaders of courses of training, seminars, workshops, and similar for the abovementioned professional groups; in preschool education (preschools, groups for mothers and children), at music schools (early childhood music education, elementary music and movement education, elemental music education, and similar); in schools and outside of schools, at the diverse range institutions that provide special needs education, in youth and adult education, in social pedagogy, at institutions for seniors, at adult education centres, in private studios, in integration projects, and in cultural programmes.

 

Entrance Examination requirements, 1st instrument

  1. Scale and triad arpeggio covering two octaves
  2. 1 freely chosen etude
  3. 1 freely chosen performance piece


Final examination (corresponds to ME: bachelor’s degree examination, 1st instrument and
IME: bachelor’s degree examination, 2nd instrument)

  • A total of 3 pieces must be prepared:
  • One’s programme must include works from at least 3 different eras chosen from the stylistic categories of baroque, classical (incl. pre-classical), romantic, and 20th/21st century works that differ markedly in style from works belonging to the traditional repertoire.
  • One’s programme must contain a fast movement from a concerto (or other concert piece).
  • One’s programme must include a work for ensemble (chamber music in any combination except for double bass / piano).


The piece with which the exam performance begins may be chosen by the candidate.

One’s chosen artistic programme must be made available in printed form at the examination.
