David Krych (MMag. Dr. phil. ) is based at the International Research Center Gender and Performativity (ICGP) at the IKM with the FWF-Esprit project “Theater theories of the Poish Avant-Gardes 1918-1939” under the mentoring of Evelyn Annuß (ICGP) and in cooperation with Małgorzata Geron (Nicolaus Copernicus University Toruń/Poland), Dariusz Kosiński (Jagellonian University Kraków/Poland), Katarzyna Kułakowska (Polish Academy of Sciences Warszawa/Poland), Krystyna Mogilnicka (Zbigniew Raszewski Theater Institute Warszawa/Poland), Dorota Sajewska (Ruhr University Bochum/Germany) and Matthias Warstat (FU Berlin/Germany) examined the political, historical and actor-related dimensions and implications of the Polish theater avant-gardes of the interwar period.
He studied theater, film and media studies, philosophy and Slavic studies at the University of Vienna. Completed his diploma studies in theater, film and media studies and philosophy. For his project on “Theatricality and animality in the 18th century. The Viennese Animal Fighting Arena”, he received uni:docs funding from the University of Vienna. He was responsible for transcribing the manuscripts in the FWF research project on Friedrich Nietzsche’s commentary “Die fröhliche Wissenschaft” and subsequently worked in the acquisition of third-party funding.
He participates in the working group on theater historiography of the Society for Theater Studies and is founder and editor (together with Silke Felber – University of Art and Design Linz) of the multilingual, peer-reviewed journal “Ephemer – Journal for Performance and Theater Research”.
