Biography

Marina Rauchenbacher (Dr.) was affiliated with the ICGP for the project Visualities of Gender in German-Language Comics (gendercomics.net; funded by the Austrian Science Fund), on which she worked together with Susanne Hochreiter and Katharina Serles (University of Vienna) and in cooperation with Evelyn Annuß (ICGP). She is also currently affiliated with the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW), where she is working on the long-term editorial project of the early works of Arthur Schnitzler. Marina teaches at the University of Vienna and at the Institute for the International Education for Students (IESabroad).

She studied German and Communication Studies at the Universities of Salzburg and Vienna, completing her studies with a dissertation on the reception of the German-language author Karoline von Günderrode. Marina worked on various projects and as a university assistant at the Universities of Salzburg and Vienna and taught at the University of Vienna (Institute for German Studies and Master’s Program in Gender Studies), the University of Graz (Master’s Program in Interdisciplinary Gender Studies) and the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (IKM/ICGP). She has completed research stays at the Freies Deutsches Hochstift in Frankfurt am Main and the University of Heidelberg (for her dissertation), and was an affiliated scholar with the Beatrice Bain Research Group at the University of California, Berkeley.

Marina is a founding member and board member of the Austrian Association for Comics and a board member of aka – Arbeitskreis Kulturanalyse. She also works as a cultural educator and curated the exhibition Narrating Violence. A Comic Exhibition at the Sigmund Freud Museum Vienna (in collaboration with Daniela Finzi).
