Eva Furrer

studied at the University of Music, Graz and at the Academy of Music, Vienna with Prof. Wolfgang Schulz; in 1988 she completed her diploma with honours and was awarded the Honorary Prize for Special Artistic Performance by the Federal Ministry for Science and Research. After several years in which she played in various orchestras such as the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester, the Wiener Kammerorchester, substitute at the Wiener Staatsoper and the RSO Wien, she specialised in Contemporary Music and, in 1990, became a member of Klangforum Wien.


She has appeared as soloist at the most renowned international festivals with the Tonhalle Orchester Zürich, Klangforum Wien, the RSO Wien and the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, conducted by Sylvain Cambreling, Peter Eötvös, Beat Furrer, Heinz Holliger and Hans Zender. She also specialises in improvisation, the development of playing techniques on specialised flutes like the contrabass flute, as well as teaching yoga to instrumentalists and composers.

Eva Furrer is co-founder of Impuls – International Ensemble- and Composers’ Academy for Contemporary Music at the University of Music, Graz and holds a teaching post both there and at the International Holiday Courses for New Music in Darmstadt.
