Florian Schötz
was born in Munich. He studied in Berlin, Munich, Nuremberg, Vienna and Madrid. His teachers include Prof. Daniel Gaede, Prof. Günter Pichler and Prof. Gerhard Schulz.
As primarius of the Goldmund Quartet, he has received numerous awards at national and international competitions. Among them are prizes at the ARD International Music Competition and the Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition. In 2018, the quartet received 1st prize and a special prize at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition.
He performs with his string quartet at international festivals such as the Festival Aix-en-Provence, Festival de Música y Danza Granada, Ludwigsburg Schlossfestspiele, Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival.
He gave concerts in Denmark, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, USA and China.
Florian Schötz already taught during his studies as assistant to Prof. Daniel Gaede at the Nuremberg University of Music. Since 2019 he has been teaching at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theatre in Leipzig and since 2021 at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
He plays on the "Conte Cozio di Salabue" Stradivarius from 1727, on loan from the Nippon Music Foundation.
