Jean-Bernard Matter
Jean- Bernard Matter (born in Metz, France) has studied bassoon and piano accompaniment at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and later conducting with Karl Österreicher at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
As guest-conductor he was invited to numerous european music festivals, orchestras and opera houses in France, Germany, Italy and Austria.
His extensive repertoire ranges from opera to chamber music, over baroque to contemporary music. He also assisted among others Georges Prêtre and Pierre Boulez and became highly asked conductor in contemporary music. Since 2008 he is teaching contemporary music at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and since 2016 he was appointed as a professor of contemporary music. He is also responsible to organize the new department and master of modern music- ensemble.
