Clement Power

(b. 1980) studied at Cambridge University and the Royal College of Music, following which he held assistant conductorships with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Ensemble Intercontemporain. Strongly committed to music as a living tradition, Power regularly collaborates with leading contemporary music ensembles worldwide.

Recent conducting engagements have seen him work with formations including Ensemble MusikFabrik (Cologne), the Philharmonia Orchestra (London), Klangforum Wien, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the NHK Symphony Orchestra (Tokyo), RSO Stuttgart, the hr-Sinfonieorchester, the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, Ensemble Intercontemporain (Paris), Ensemble Contrechamps (Geneva), the Avanti! Chamber Orchestra (Helsinki), Ictus Ensemble (Brussels), Ensemble Modern (Frankfurt), the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Britten Sinfonia (London), and Ensemble TIMF (South Korea). He has been a guest of festivals including the Lucerne Festival, the Salzburg Biennale, the Darmstadt New Music Festival, Wien Modern, the Acht Brücken Festival, the ECLAT Festival, Warsaw Autumn, the Venice Biennale, the Aldeburgh Festival, and IRCAM’s Agora Festival. Opera premières include Hèctor Parra’s Hypermusic Prologue (Liceu), Wolfgang Mitterer’s Marta (Ictus / Opéra de Lille), and Liza Lim’s Tree of Codes (Musikfabrik / Oper Köln). His CD recordings have been released on Kairos, col legno, Wergo, and Orchid Classics.
