Chorical Figurations

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Evelyn Annuß

How do Gender Studies contribute to the current research on the chorus and respective artistic practices? This project aims at extending our notion of the chorus as an environmental figuration in the context of theater, music and dance. It reflects on a potential revision of our understanding of "diversity" and how figurations of the chorus may correspond with figures of thought coined by feminist theory – from the 1970s metaphorical use of femininity to Donna Haraway's actual reformulation of post-anthropocentric perspectives.

An international conference cooperation has been initiated together with Sebastian Kirsch (NYU/Humboldt program). Closely linked to our  teaching profile, the up to now theoretical approach of this project shaped by theater studies will be put in dialogue with artistic chorical projects in music, dance and performance.
