The mdw - University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna has an impressive new building on its campus on Anton-von-Webern-Platz since the start of the 2020 winter semester. Located between Ungargasse and Rechte Bahngasse in the 3rd district, the Future Art Lab, built by the Bundesimmobiliengesellschaft (BIG) as owner and developer, blends into the existing ensemble of buildings with its striking architecture and characteristic façade and offers 3,400 m² of generous space for three mdw departments.

The building, designed by architects Pichler & Traupmann, houses the Klangtheater, an arthouse cinema, a recording and a concert hall with 100 seats -  four halls that are technically, acoustically and atmospherically equipped for every form of contemporary music culture.

The official handover of the keys to the mdw's Future Art Lab took place on 7 June 2021.
