Linearity, causality, chronology are just a few of the concepts that shape the generally accepted image of historical narrative. In light of the plurality of the modern media landscape, in which topoi – in the form of images and music steeped in history – spread virulently, the question of a non-linear historical narrative becomes more relevant. The objective of the Telling Sounds research project is thus to illustrate the juxtaposition of music of diverse historical provenance, replete with diverse cultural coding when possible, in their specific non-linear manifestations.
