Department of Music Education Research and Practice


The Department of Music Education Research and Practice focuses on basic research in music education, the application of research findings in concepts and materials for practical areas of music education, and the development of a musical practice that is both specifically artistic and educationally relevant.


The Department of Music Education Research and Practice , with its numerous employees at the university as well as in the professional field, is made up of the following music-education subject areas:

  • Elementary Music Education (EMp)
  • General Music Education (AMP) / Music Teaching Programme  (including didactics)
  • Music Education for Voice and Instruments (IGP) (including teaching practice in a music school) 
  • Musik im Dialog (music outreach/community music) (MiD)
  • Educational Sciences (BiWi)
