Univ.-Prof. Justus ZEYEN
Born in Kiel, Justus Zeyen first took piano lessons with Cord Garben before studying in Hanover with Karl Engel and Bernhard Ebert, among others. Concerts take Justus Zeyen through Europe, North America and Asia. He has performed with Juliane Banse, Measha Brueggergosman, Diana Damrau, Christiane Karg, Dorothea Röschmann, Florian Boesch, Siegfried Lorenz, Thomas Quasthoff, Michael Schade and Bernd Weikl, among others, as well as the choirs of the Bavarian, Central and South German Radio.
He has repeatedly given recitals in the Philharmonies of Berlin, Hamburg and Cologne, Musikverein and Konzerthaus Vienna, Theater an der Wien, La Scala Milan, Wigmore Hall London, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, in Madrid, Paris, Moscow Conservatory, Stern Auditorium Carnegie Hall and Licoln Center New York, in Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Toronto and Tokyo and has had invitations to the Berlin and Vienna Festivals, the Munich Opera Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein, Edinburgh and Verbier Festivals, Schubertiade Schwarzenberg, Salzburg Festival, Mostly Mozart New York, Tanglewood and Tokyo.
Five CD releases with the Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft have been honored with several awards such as the Echo Klassik, Cannes Award, Preis der Deutschen Schallplattenkritik and Grammy nominations.
Justus Zeyen taught until summer 2020 at the Hanover University of Music and Performing Arts and at master classes in Tanglewood, New York, Boston, London and the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg.
