Registration at MDW and Application to the Partner University

APPLICATION DEADLINES

The application deadlines at the partner universities vary, typically falling between February and May for mobilities in the following winter semester or academic year. The exact deadlines can be found on the partner university's website or by contacting their International Office. A few partner universities offer an additional deadline in autumn for applications for the following summer semester.

There is no internal mdw application deadline. However, it is recommended to register in Mobility Online in December to submit the Learning Agreement to the Office of the Director of Studies as early as possible.

REGISTRATION AND APPLICATION PROCESS

The registration at mdw and the application to the partner university consist of three parts:

1. Internal mdw Registration in Mobility Online

Once you have completed the registration for Mobility Online, you will receive an email on your mdw student email account with further instructions.

2. Online Workflow (Creation of the Learning Agreement)

Once you have been approved by the StudienCenter, you can proceed step by step with the Mobility Online workflow. It is possible to exit the workflow and log in again at a later time. Your data will be saved. The key steps in the workflow "Before the Stay - Registration" are:

  • Contacting the StudienCenter: To review your study progress and confirm eligibility for a study abroad program.
  • Entering the course plan link at the host institution and planning courses at the partner university: Decide which courses you want to take at the partner university and determine which courses are still required for your studies at mdw and can be "credited." This information is essential for preparing a Learning Agreement as quickly as possible after a potential acceptance.

3. Application to the Partner University

Once the Study Center confirms your eligibility for a study abroad stay, you can apply to the chosen partner university. Most European partner universities use the 'EASY Mobility Online' application platform, which should not be confused with mdw's internal Mobility Online.

If the selected partner university does not use an online application platform or requires a nomination through mdw's International Office, please contact internationaloffice@mdw.ac.at.

3. Learning Agreement

After receiving an acceptance for a study abroad placement, you must create a Learning Agreement in Mobility Online as soon as possible. More detailed information on this process can be found here.

PARTNER UNIVERSITIES

In principle, it is possible to apply to three European and three non-European partner universities. Due to the high administrative effort for each individual application, a more focused selection of a maximum of 3 partner universities is recommended.

Take enough time to thoroughly research your desired destinations in advance. Investigate which field of study at the respective partner university aligns best with your studies at mdw, and familiarize yourself with the application process at the partner university.

If you cannot find specific information on the partner university's website, please directly contact the International Office of the partner university.

You can find the Destinations Portal here.
