Dr. Elisabeth Waltner (1950-2022)
(Visual Folk Music Research)

Born 1950 Graz, Matura in 1968 at the Academic Gymnasium in Graz, studied folklore and art history in Vienna and Graz: doctorate in 1976, training as photographer with certificate.

Referee for ethnology at the National Bureau for Scholarly Cinemantography in Vienna, 1976-1997; during this time university lecturer in "visual anthropology" at the Institute for Folklore in Graz, since 1997 at the Institute for Folk Music research and Ethnomusicology as faculty, responsible for the area "Visual Folk Music Research."

Member of the Encyclopedia Cinematogrophia and the International Visual Sociology Association.

Retired since 1 July 2015.
