In this workshop, participants learn about popular rhythms in Bulgarian folk music. The workshop focuses on the participants’ experience in performing the various rhythms through voice – singing – and the body – dancing. At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to perform examples of folk song and dance traditions of various regions of Bulgaria.

In this workshop lecture, Prof. Zoya Mikova will present musical folklore dialects in Bulgarian traditional music. Participants will learn about different performance styles in vocal folk music from Bulgaria and will have the opportunity to practically learn singing folk songs and dancing folk dances from various regions of Bulgaria.
