Data protection information in accordance with Art 13 GDPR - Mauricio Kagel Composition Competition

The mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (“mdw”), as the controller in the sense of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), places great importance on the protection of data pertaining to your person and processes such data exclusively in conformance with applicable data protection laws.

 

Purpose and Legal Basis

In the event that you register for the Mauricio Kagel Composition Competition, the personal data you provide will be processed for the purpose of processing your registration and carrying out the respective competition.
The processing is carried out on the basis of the contractual obligations and necessities resulting from participation in the competition, in accordance with Art 6 Sec 1 (b) GDPR or on the basis of public interests in accordance with Art 6 Sec 1 (e) GDPR in connection with §§ 1-3 UG or, insofar as the mdw does not act in fulfilment of its responsibilities under public law, on the basis of the legitimate interest of the persons responsible in accordance with Art 6 Sec 1 (f) GDPR.
The provision of your data is absolutely necessary to enable you to participate in the competition and to conduct the competition themselves. Therefore, participation is not possible without disclosure of the data.

 

Recipients of Transmitted Data

The data will be processed internally by the administrative staff and teaching staff organising the competition and will only be passed on internally or to third parties if this is necessary for the purpose of processing the contract or if it is in the public interest according to Art 6 Sec 1 (e) GDPR in connection with §§ 1-3 of the Austrian Universities Act (UG) or, insofar as the mdw does not act in fulfilment of its responsibilities under public law, if it is in the legitimate interest of the persons responsible according to Art 6 Sec 1 (f) GDPR, or if you have given your prior consent.

 

Deletion of Data

The data pertaining to your person will be stored by us for the duration of the competition and beyond that for the duration of any legal claims that may exist or on the basis of legal obligations to the extent of an expected 10 years.

 

Data Security

In order to ensure the security of your data, we protect it using physical, administrative and electronic processes. Data transfers are therefore encrypted. Furthermore, your data can only be accessed by those individuals who need it in order to fulfil their work responsibilities. 

 

Cookies 

We use cookies in order to make the mdw website as user-friendly as possible. Cookies already on your computer can be deleted at any time, and the user guide of your browser contains instructions on how to do so. 

 

Your Rights

As a party affected by this data processing you are entitled to the following rights: right of access (Art 15 GDPR), right to rectification (Art 16 GDPR), right to erasure (Art 17 GDPR), right to restriction of processing (Art 18 GDPR), right to data portability (Art 20 GDPR), right to object (Art 21 GDPR). Furthermore, you have the option of submitting a complaint to the Austrian Data Protection Authority: Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde, dsb@dsb.gv.at.
