The Open Access University Press of the mdw
mdwPress is the open access academic publisher of the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. With this press, the mdw aims to increase the visibility of its research in all its diversity. Free from commercial motives, mdwPress makes research results freely accessible and reusable for the interested public.
The quality and academic freedom of mdwPress are ensured by an academic board whose regularly rotating internal and external members are characterized by distinguished academic achievements. Each proposal for a publication project, including a suggestion for the peer review procedure of the entire manuscript, is discussed and determined by this board.
mdwPress is open to all academic publication formats, including journals and innovative formats, and welcomes inter- and transdisciplinarity. Where necessary, mdwPress relies on external partnerships.
About This Volume
This volume gathers contributions based on keynotes, papers and lecture recitals presented at ‘universum rei harmonicae concentum absolvunt’ – Das Cembalo im 16. Jahrhundert / The Harpsichord in the 16th Century, April 20–22, 2021. After the project proposal was accepted by the academic board of mdwPress, the editors invited selected presenters of the symposium to submit chapters and undertook a careful editorial review. In a second step, the whole volume was double-blind peer reviewed by two external reviewers. The mdwPress coordination supervised the external review process and the academic board accepted the final manuscript for publication.
