Ass.-Prof. Dr. Alexandra Türk-Espitalier

Alexandra Türk-Espitalier is holding the tenure-track position for Musicians' Health since October 2024. Previously, she taught for 10 years as a Senior Lecturer at mdw.

In addition to her teaching and research activities, Dr. Türk-Espitalier leads the postgraduate course "Music Physiology" at mdw.

She studied flute performance (Dipl. mus.) and instrumental pedagogy (Dipl. mus. päd.) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt/Main, as well as Physiotherapy (MSc with distinction) at Queen Margaret University Edinburgh and Systematic Musicology (PhD) at mdw.

She is the author and co-author of numerous books and articles on topics such as prevention and exercises for musicians, training, and practice plans. Her most well-known book is Musicians in Motion: 100 Exercises with and without Instruments (Zimmermann, 2008). She also runs a YouTube channel on music physiology.
